Five questions a day.
Every answer cited.

A daily habit that leaves you knowing something you did not know this morning — and shows you exactly where it came from.

In English and French. Free to use, now and always. Some content stays on your device, some requires internet.

Geography

At about 3,650 m above sea level, which city is the world's highest capital?

  • La Paz — correct answer
  • Quito
  • Kathmandu
  • Bogotá
Why it matters — The air holds roughly a third less oxygen than at sea level — visiting footballers have complained about it for decades.

What we will never do

Easy to write on a landing page. So it is written into our Charter, in public, where you can hold us to it.

  • Never require you to identify yourself to learn. You do not need a name, an email or an account. Everything Qpio teaches is open to you without telling us who you are, and your progress lives on this device.
  • Never build a picture of you. We look at how readers as a whole are getting on, so the app can get better at teaching. We never assemble that into a person — not for us, not for anyone else.
  • Never sell your data, or the right to influence you. Nobody can pay to change what you are told, or to be told about you.
  • Never put knowledge behind a paywall. No “free version”. No five-questions-then-pay. Knowledge, free, permanently.
  • Never run ads. Nobody buys their way into what you are told. When you want to go further you may find links to relevant books, museums or resources — and no fee has ever placed one of them or changed its order.
  • Always show the source. Every single question, one tap away, so you can check us.
  • Always say when we are unsure. A corrected question is worth more than a confident wrong one.

Install it in about ten seconds

There is no app store and nothing to download. Qpio is a website that installs itself — which is why it is instant, tiny, and updates on its own.

1

Open qpio.app

It works straight away in the browser. You can play the whole thing without installing anything.

2

Add it to your home screen

iPhone: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Android: tap the menu, then Install app.
Desktop: the install icon in the address bar.

3

That is it

It opens like any app. Your progress is currently stored on your device, and you don't need to provide a name or email to play.
